Properly Pronouncing Your Favorite Scotch

Properly Pronouncing Your Favorite Scotch

Auchentoshan – “Ah” like you just enjoyed a drink, a female chicken, one of the things on the end of your foot, and the front of your leg below the knee. “Ah-hen-toe-shin.”

The Balvenie – “The” is essential for this one. Then talk about your “pal Vinny” but switch out the “p” with a “b”.

Bruichladditch – Your best bet is to say, “Brook-laddy”.

Glenfiddich – This one sounds almost like it looks, except the “ch” becomes a “ck.” “Glen-fi-dick”

Knockando – What you do when there’s no doorbell, the word “an”, and what you find on the grass in the morning. “Nock-an-dew.”

Laphroaig – La (as in la la la), then the psychologist Freud, only end in a hard G instead of a D. “La-froy-g.”
