Remember the 1971 fiction book and the movie, The Exorcist, that was
about Jesuit priests from Georgetown University conducting an exorcism on
a girl who lived nearby the university and was possessed by demons?
The author of that book, William Peter Blatty, graduated from Georgetown in
1950, and he now thinks Georgetown is possessed by demons and needs a good
exorcism.
Like
many graduates of that Catholic university, Blatty is fed up with the scandals
there which include:
* removing crucifixes from the
classrooms
* allowing the vile play, The Vagina
Monologues, to be performed on campus
* covering up religious statues when
President Obama spoke there
* hosting pro-abortion and
Catholics-in-name only such as Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, and Kathleen
Sibelius
* Georgetown faculty’s support of
Obamacare and its provisions that attack religious liberty
* Georgetown faculty’s protesting a
speech by Vice Presidential candidate and devout Catholic Paul Ryan
He
is also embarrassed by Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke demanding free
contraceptives to be paid for by fellow Catholics and all other tax
payers.
He
is especially aggrieved that the Jesuits who run the university have failed to
comply with the directive of the late Pope John Paul II for Catholic
Universities to comply with
Catholic
doctrine which Georgetown has ignored for many years in an effort to be more
“secular” and appeal to non-Catholics.
So, Blatty plans to petition the papal nuncio (ambassador) of the USA to ask
for a “visitation” from Vatican authorities to investigate and decide if
Georgetown should remain as a Catholic institution (as was recently done for a
group of far-left American nuns and for a radical leftist Catholic university
in Latin America). Blatty is looking for others to sign the petition and
has formed a society to help with this effort to reform Georgetown.
So, he formed The Father King Society which is named for a Jesuit priest who
fought for reforms at Georgetown many years ago when it also strayed from its
charter to provide an education in keeping with Catholic teaching and
tradition.
