Does
history repeat itself?
There
is an eerie similarity between FDR and BHO.
Will
2013 be a repeat of 1937?
The FDR
Years:
1932:
FDR is elected after a financial collapse. He wins by relentlessly
attacking and demonizing his predecessor, Herbert Hoover.
1933:
FDR signs off on several huge government programs: Social Security,
National Labor Relations, Banking Act strengthening the Federal Reserve.
1934:
FDR goes on a spending spree (stimulus). For the first time. Federal
Government spending exceeds spending by all states and cities combined.
This
begins the death of Federalism (where the national government had always spent
much less than all the states) and weakening of the states’ Constitutional
authority.
1935:
The spending spree continues. The economy struggles to come out of a
depression.
1936:
FDR is reelected by continuing to blame all problems on his predecessor, the
wealthy, and those who opposed his abuse of the Constitutional power of the
states.
1937: FDR promises to cut the
deficit, but he raises taxes especially on the wealthy whom he demonizes.
FDR’s major government programs are implemented and begin to take their toll on
the economy. Americans begin to pay Social Security taxes for the first
time.
Union
leader, John Lewis, begins his push for greater union wages and conducts
strikes that further damage the economy.
The
Fed requires banks to have additional cash reserves resulting in less cash
available, increased financial uncertainty, loss of business confidence.
Industrial
production drops by 34.5%. The stock market loses half its
value.
The
country falls back into a recession/depression.
Unemployment exceeds 15%.
1938:
The economy continues to struggle to get out of the recession.
1939:
War begins in Europe.
1940:
FDR reelected.
1941:
World War comes to the USA.
The BHO
Years:
2008:
BHO is elected after a financial collapse. He relentlessly attacks and
demonizes his predecessor, George Bush.
2009:
BHO goes on a spending spree starting with a trillion dollar “stimulus”
bill.
2010:
BHO signs his Obamacare Program that will take over one sixth of the economy
starting after his reelection in 2012..
2011:
BHO continues the spending spree. Government share of GDP goes from 19%
to over 24%.
The economy continues to struggle to come out of its recession.
2012:
BHO is reelected by continuing to blame all problems on his predecessor.
2013: BHO promises to cut the
deficit, but he raises taxes especially on the wealthy whom he demonizes.
Americans and businesses begin paying Obamacare taxes resulting in significant
job losses.
Union Leader, Trumpka, pushes for higher union wages and strikes.
Industrial production drops. The stock market loses half its
value.
The
country goes deeper into recession.
Unemployment
exceeds 15%.
What the
future holds?
2014:
BHO pushes for a national sales tax - Value Added Tax (VAT) - to pay
down the trillions of debt while refusing to cut any government programs
.
BHO
continues to attack and demonize his predecessor, the wealthy, and other
opponents as the mid-term Congressional elections approach.
2015:
BHO continues his divisive class-warfare rhetoric leading to civil strife and
riots as seen in Greece.
The country plunges from a recession into a deep depression.
2016:
The USA becomes a European-style welfare state.
Hillary Clinton defeats Marco Rubio and becomes President Clinton.
World War begins.
