Another milestone is reached on the road to the socialist
utopia of Obamaland.
As promised by Obama, the fundamental transformation of the
USA from a constitutional republic of 50 sovereign states to a centralized
oligarchy will be implemented by tyrants.
Obama to nationalize the Internet as he has
done with health care.
On February 26, the FCC will issue 332 pages of
regulations to nationalize the Internet and impose billions of new taxes on
users.
This is being done without review or approval by Congress.
Users of the Internet will see new taxes in the form of
Universal Access charges as is now done on cell phones.
The hidden power grab in this instance is the proposal to
regulate the Internet as if it were a public utility. That means federal
supervision, oversight, restrictions and -- down the road -- taxes. Suddenly
the sea of information in which most Americans "surf" will include a
lifeguard blowing his whistle, "no diving or swimming" signs on the
information beach and, most likely in the future, fees just to enter the water.
Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Tom
Wheeler (Democrat) said on February 4 that he backed Obama’s plan to
reclassify the Internet as a public utility under the government agency’s Title
II authority. FCC commissioner Ajit Pai (Republican) said in a press
release on February 6 that the plan "marks a monumental shift
toward government control of the Internet."
Even a liberal think tank predicted that these regulations
could cost American households $156/year in new fees from their
Internet providers.
