The Schwinn Bicycle Company began producing the Sting-Ray 50 years ago on June
1, 1963.
The sporty two-wheeler with butterfly handlebars and a banana seat became a
national sensation.
700,000 were sold by 1968.
From 1963 to 1981, Schwinn marketed the bike like a sports car to teens too
young to drive.
If you fondly recall those golden days, you are old!
