Reminders for Sunday: 20+C+M+B+17

The Feast of the Epiphany (arrival of the 3 Magi) is celebrated tomorrow in the Novos Ordo (New Order) Mass.  (It is celebrated traditionally on January 6.)

Be sure to:

Take your gold, frankincense and myrrh to Mass and have them blessed.

Take chalk to Mass and have it blessed, and then use the chalk to write over your front door – “20 + C + M + B + 17.”

Enjoy a King Cake – Be sure to find the toy hidden in the cake.

Sing Epiphany songs:   “I Saw Three Ships” and “We 3 Kings

Wear a paper crown at your Epiphany dinner.

Note:  The letters C, M, B have two meanings. They are the initials of the traditional names of the three magi: Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar. They also abbreviate the Latin words Christus mansionem benedicat, “May Christ bless the house.” The “+” signs represent the cross and 2017 is the year.
