Remember
when Obama said in 2009, "You can't take a trip to Las Vegas ... on the
taxpayer's dime"? Unless you're taking a federally funded train.

Train to nowhere
DesertXpress is
seeking a $4.9 billion "loan" from the Obama administration to build
a 150 mph train to travel between Las Vegas and Middle-of-Nowhere, California.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is pushing the charade, which would be
the largest of its type, because apparently he thinks tourists in Los Angeles
will travel 100 miles outside that city to board the train to Las Vegas.
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says it will mean "jobs," though
just over 700 jobs would be permanent. Construction costs have already reached
$6.5 billion, not including interest on the loan. We find it somewhat ironic
that the party of "progressive" thought and action is pushing trains
as the wave of the future.
