What if I told you . . .
Long before “Father Christmas” or “Santa”, it was the Three Kings who brought the gifts.
The story was that, while on their way to Bethlehem with gifts for the New Born King, they would pass by your house and drop a “little gift” for you in the shoe you were supposed to leave outside your door. Obviously, this worked best in small towns and villages than in large cities… and would be impossible in today’s traffic. The gifts were small, as they were to fit inside, or just over, your shoe.
So, on “Little Christmas”/ Epiphany/ the 12th Day of Christmas/ January 6, children got a LITTLE gift from the Three Wise Men/ Three Kings of Orient. No overcoats or bicycles.
Merry Little Christmas to you all!
In some countries, Three Kings Day is the day of Christmas gift-giving! Celebrate both! #Epiphany
