Breaking News

BREAKING:

Obama has stepped in and decided that Alabama got too many points yesterday and has redistributed some of those points to Notre Dame resulting in a tie in the game and a tie for the national championship.

When asked for a comment, Obama said, "Alabama obviously got more than their fair share. They didn't win that all by themselves! What does one team need all those points for?"

Letter from Momma

Dearest Redneck Son,

I'm writing this slow because I know you can't read fast. We don't live where we did when you left home. Your dad read in the newspaper that most accidents happen within 20 miles of your home, so we moved. I won't be able to send you the address because the last Forest County family that lived here took the house numbers when they moved so they wouldn't have to change their address.

This place is really nice. It even has a washing machine. I'm not sure about it. I put a load of clothes in and pulled the chain. We haven't seen them since.

The weather isn't bad here. It only rained twice last week; the first time for three days and the second time for four days.

About that coat you wanted me to send; your Uncle Billy Bob said it would be too heavy to send in the mail with the buttons on, so we cut them off and put them in the pockets.

Bubba locked his keys in the car yesterday. We were really worried because it took him two hours to get me and your father out.

Your sister had a baby this morning, but I haven't found out what it is yet so I don't know if you are an aunt or uncle.

Uncle Bobby Ray fell into a whiskey vat last week. Some men tried to pull him out but he fought them off and drowned. We had him cremated, he burned for three days.

Three of your friends went off a bridge in a pickup truck. Butch was driving. He rolled down the window and swam to safety. Your other two friends were in the back. They drowned because they couldn't get the tailgate down!

There isn't much more news at this time. Nothing much out of the normal has happened.

Your Favorite Aunt,
Momma

Another Epiphany Tradition: "The Three Wise Men" Whiskey Cocktail

Your Cocktail for Epiphany: The Three Wise Men

Dr. Taylor Marshall

The "Three Wise Men" is the name of an interesting "stiff" cocktail and might be fun to introduce to friends on the feast of the Holy Epiphany - since the Epiphany recalls the Three Wise Men.

It's blend of three types of whiskey: Scotch, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

Since you're blending the whiskeys, I would not use a high priced single malt Scotch whisky. Instead go for a cheaper Scotch, like Dewers, Chivas, or Johnnie Walker.

Here's the recipe for the "Three Wise Men" cocktail:

1 part Scotch Whisky (Chivas).
1 part Tennessee Whiskey (Jack Daniels).
1 part Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey (Jim Beam).

You can go neat or on the rocks. Whichever you like. Enjoy and be careful not to drink too many of these. If so, you could quickly go from being a wise man to a fool.

Happy Epiphany!

PS: A variation is "Three Wise Men and a Baby." Same recipe as above but with a splash of milk or egg nog. This adds "holiday flavor."

Epiphany Traditions: Three Kings Cake & Door Chalk

A “three kings cake” is traditional. Some families hide a bean, coin, or small figure of the Baby Jesus inside; whoever gets it in their cake wears a homemade crown all day.

To remind us that we are to reveal Christ to the world, like the three kings, we write a chalk inscription just over the front door on the inside. It consists of the first two digits of the new year, the initials of the three kings (Caspar, Bathasar, and Melchior, according to some traditions), and the last two digits of the new year—all interspersed with crosses:

A Pastor's Letter About The 2012 Election

Don't know who this pastor is but he hit the nail on the head. As for me, he straightened me out as I was so disappointed and disheartened that Romney did not win. What a wonderful attitude this man has. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Written by a Pastor:
I like many Americans was deeply saddened by the reelection of Obama on Tuesday, was quick to be ashamed of America and the people who voted for him and also questioned why God would allow this to happen.
Today I started to reflect upon what happened and why. Then it hit me that I wasn't trusting God and He is still in control!
  • Perhaps God in his wisdom knew that Romney was not the right choice for us at this time.
  • Perhaps God in his wisdom knew that whomever got elected was going to face huge problems and why shouldn't Obama be the one to shoulder that responsibility. After all, he is the one who has misled, lied to the American people, and has further plans for the destruction of our Country as we have known and loved it. He now has to "inherit" his own mess and can't blame it on someone else. The media would have crucified Romney over the next four years for "ruining" Obama's hope and change plans and blamed him for all the problems.
I believe that our God will show this nation what happens when you allow Godless people to manage the gifts this nation has to offer and He provided for us. I believe He will expose Obama once and for all for the failure he is and our corrupt media will not be able to save him. I also believe that Obama's attitude and treatment of Israel is not looked upon by God as obeying His command and Obama will have to answer for that.

We have another Congressional election coming up in two years and maybe we can get rid of some of the democratic critters that occupy Congress today. Maybe in four years we can run a ticket for President and Vice President good men, like we need. Maybe when America again suffers serious setbacks, people will realize what a weak and corrupt management team we have and be tired of it.

I will not question God's wisdom or plans He has for us again, because He is in control and has always done what's best for us. We are reminded that prayer isn't always answered in the way we would like at the time, but God does answer our prayers in His time and in a way that is best for His children. So, let's keep the Faith, lay our worries at His feet, and trust God to take care of us!

This was on my heart today and I hope you all don't mind my expressing these thoughts to you. I am in need of strength, encouragement, and understanding as are so many of the faithful and good Americans in our Country today!

PRAY FOR AMERICA !

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land.    2 Chronicles 7:14 --

TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE, SO ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.
