Democrats, led by the resurgent neo-progressive movement with its roots in late 19th century socialist populism, are intent on moving the country sharply left in the direction of greatly expanded government, social engineering and collectivism. Republicans are standing in their way, defending their vision of limited government, constitutionalism, individual liberty, private enterprise and traditional values. This ideological conflict defies compromise.”
