REMINDER: All Souls Week

"Lay my body anywhere," pleaded the dying St. Monica with her son, St. Augustine, "only this I beg of you: remember me at the altar of God."

The month of November is dedicated to the Souls in Purgatory. Is it not sad but true that the living so soon forget the dead? We forget when we live, we are forgotten when we die.

Indulgences for All Souls Week
An indulgence, applicable only to the Souls in Purgatory, is granted to the faithful, who devoutly visit a cemetery and pray, even if only mentally, for the departed. The indulgence is plenary each day from the first to the eighth of November; on other days of the year it is partial.

A plenary indulgence, applicable only to the Souls in Purgatory, is granted to the faithful, who on the day dedicated to the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed [November 2 {as well as on the Sunday preceding or following, and on All Saints' Day}] piously visit a church. In visiting the church it is required that one Our Father and the Creed be recited.

To acquire a plenary indulgence it is necessary also to fulfill the following three conditions: sacramental Confession, Eucharistic communion, and prayer for the intention of the Holy Father. The three conditions may be fulfilled several days before or after the performance of the visit; it is, however, fitting that communion be received and the prayer for the intention of the Holy Father be said on the same day as the visit.

The condition of praying for the intention of the Holy Father is fully satisfied by reciting one Our Father and one Hail Mary. A plenary indulgence can be acquired only once in the course of the day.

November 7th is the Feast of All Saints of the Order of Preachers, also known as the Dominicans.

Founded by Spaniard St. Dominic de Guzman in France in the early 13th century, the Order has 14 canonized saints and 215 beatified among its friars, nuns, sisters, lay members, and fraternities. Over the centuries the unnamed Dominican martyrs for the faith number in the tens of thousands, including many among the Martyrs of Nagasaki and the Martyrs of Vietnam.

Some of the most famous Dominican saints include

St. Rose of Lima,

St. Martin de Porres,

Pope St. Pius V,

Arctic Report

The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in

some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report

to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulate, at Bergen, Norway

Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change

in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. 

Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north

as 81 degrees 29 minutes.

Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. 

Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones,

the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.

Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic,

while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north,

are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds. 

Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and

make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

This must have been caused by the Model T Ford's emissions.

Them Wuz The Days

My mom used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread

butter on bread on the same cutting board with the same

knife and no bleach or antibacterial wipes, but we

didn't seem to get food poisoning. Our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper or

in a baggie with a twist tie, in a brown paper bag, not in

ice pack coolers, but I can't remember getting e.

ColiAlmost all of us would have rather gone swimming

in the lake or at the beach instead of a  pristine pool

(talk about boring), no beach closures then. We  all took gym class... and risked

permanent injury with a pair of regular old tennis shoes

from a department store if we were lucky, but likely hand me

downs instead of having cross-training athletic shoes with

air cushion soles and built in light reflectors that cost as

much as a small car. I can't recall any injuries but

they must have happened because they tell us how much safer

we are now. We got a spanking for doing something wrong,

parents called it discipline.  And we all grew up to

accept the rules and to honor and respect our parents,

grandparents teachers, police officers, and those older than

us. We had 50 kids in our class and we all learned to

read and write, do math and spell almost all the words

needed to write a grammatically correct letter.  Even

in cursive! We all said prayers in school irrespective of our

religion, sang the national anthem and no one got

upset. Staying in detention after school caught all sorts

of negative attention we wish we hadn't  got. 

It was shameful, and detention was nothing compared to what

was waiting at home. I thought that I was supposed to accomplish

something before I was allowed to be proud of

myself. I just can't recall ever being bored, even

though we were without computers, Play Station,

Nintendo,  X-box, laptops, cell phones or 270 digital

TV cable stations. We weren't!  We went outside and

played with the neighbor kids of all ages, made up games,

and rode our bikes for miles without helmets.Oh yeah , and where were the antibiotics and

medical kit when I scraped something or got that bee sting?

I could have been killed! We played "King of the Hill" on piles of

gravel left on vacant building sites and when we got hurt,

mom pulled out the bottle of iodine or red Mercurochrome and

then we got our backside spanked.  Now it's a trip

to the emergency room, followed by a 10 day dose of

antibiotics and then mom and dad call the lawyer to sue the

contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel

where it was such a  threat. To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever

been told that they were from a dysfunctional family. How

could we possibly have known that? We never needed to get into group therapy and/or

anger management classes. We were obviously so duped by so

many societal ills, that we didn't even notice that the

entire country wasn't taking Prozac! How did we ever survive? LOVE TO ALL OF US WHO SHARED THIS ERA. AND TO ALL WHO DIDN'T, SORRY FOR WHAT YOU

MISSED. WOULDN'T TRADE  IT FOR

ANYTHING! Pass this to someone and  remember that

life's most simple pleasures are very often the 

best. Ah, those WERE the days!

that Is happening! Who is buying the companies manufacturing guns??? 
For the last several years a company called The Freedom Group has been
buying up gun and ammunition manufacturers.  Some of the companies are
Bushmaster, Marlin, Remington, DPMS, Dakota Arms and H&R.  Some people
worry that this Freedom Group is going to control most of the firearms
companies in the United States.  If you control the manufacturers you
can decide to stop selling to civilians.

   What a perfect way to control guns.  Now if you do some digging you
will see that The Freedom Group is owned by a company called Cerberus
Capital Management.  Guess who controls Cerberus???  GEORGE SOROS,
Obama's chief financier!!  He wants to restrict or ban all civilian
guns.  Please pass this on to all  your freedom loving friends. This
needs to come out.  Why have we not heard about this in the
"mainstream" media?   I would think this would be BIG news.

George Soros is, you need to do some research.  This One-World
Government atheist backed Obama with millions of dollars and Obama is
